From Resolutions to Results: Making Fitness Goals NOW!
Full disclosure: I approach New Year’s Resolutions the way The Grinch approached Christmas. Don’t get me wrong. I am not goals adverse or even lists adverse. However, I do believe that if you are passionate about your life goals, the only right time to take action is right now.
I gave this speech content at a recent Toastmasters club meeting and gave this further consideration as I had my early morning quiet time on Saturday. As we are officially in a new and final month of 2023, I acknowledged some of the health and nutrition actions that I considered adopting next month. After all, it’s holiday parties, my son’s birthday and Christmas- who wants to embrace changes now?
I’ll tell you who – me! I got out of bed, laced up my fairly new short distance trainers and hit the road before my 4 hour zoom training session – running a respectable 8:37 min/mile pace. I even managed to get in some strength training with my resistance bands. I maintained positive body affirmations during my cool down. I realized there was no need to wait until January 1 to start my habits and produce change. My why is here. Why set my when for a future date? Set the foundation now and use the new year as an added motivator to hit the ground running.

✨Change that New Years Resolution List to Your Active Goals List.
✨Take one item from that list and start today. It doesn’t have to be huge-only manageable.
✨Build on your progress and celebrate all wins.
